Equator Coffees
equator coffees is part of creekhaus, a project developed by paymun. I was brought on as an interior designer to develop the concept and design narrative in close collaboration with Ladan Gehring, Design Director at Paymun, and have continued to contribute throughout design development and implementation.
A MODERN RELAY STATION
Long before Wi-Fi and espresso, Pony Express riders traveled through these hills, carrying news and connecting communities. That history became the starting point for A Modern Relay Station — a concept connecting Orinda’s past with Equator’s own spirit of movement, curiosity and connection.
The design translates that story through material and detail rather than literal historical references: leather seating nods to riders’ saddlebags; live-edge wood and stone evoke the surrounding landscape; metal accents reference the utilitarian language of the Pony Express; and a large-scale mural by local artist Rymie will reinterpret the riders’ journey through a contemporary lens.
The result is conceived as a modern stopping point — a place to pause, gather and connect before continuing on.
